CSIPCBA Monthly Journal

Minister Kenney,

where is your Consumer Protection?

Time to move on with your decision on new regulator,

Your ministry integrity is in great jeopardy.

Supporting unqualified regulator will jeopardize your cabinet minister job for the long run

CIC staff conflict of interest will do more harm to consumers than protecting them

The head of CSIPCBA’s most glamorous woman is about to exit the stage.

Nuha Nancy Salloum, who has served as chairwoman and CEO of the Canadian Society of Immigration Practitioners and its affiliates for the past five years, tells the industry GOODBYE, she will step down as chairperson when her contract ends in October 15, 2010.

“My guess is that I’ll end up in the profit Auto Industry and World Investment,” Salloum says. “People who know me know I’ve had these great extracurricular interests that have been very significant in driving me into many professions as Journalist, Lobbyist and Business Entrepreneur at the international level and Citizenship law council.”

Salloum’s departure has been the subject of rumors in Ottawa for some time and Minister Kenney is aware of such rumor for months. Her decision to leave not for profit organization is a decision for her future interest after accepting high profile position in the Auto Industry as lobbyist, and investor and CEO for Auto corporation.

The race to land this plum position is set to be intense but since her family were in the Auto industry in the Middle East since 1936, she feels she is returning to the family business.

The combination of a high salary and high-profile mingling with her makes it one of BC’s most coveted jobs. The impending departure of Salloum, has sparked whispers about a replacement within CSIP.

Possible names include many high profile retired politicians and judges and lobbyist, or a longtime friend of Salloum’s and previous legal counsel for cabinet minister, but the fact CSIP has by-laws and must follow its policy accordingly.

Madame Mirreille Gauthier has accepted the position from Vice chair of CSIP to Chairperson affective as of October 15, 2010.

Though it’s a coveted post, the job poses serious challenges, including dealing with the competing Immigration regulator agendas as described in the Gazette of August 28 2010.

“The issues are only getting broader and the resources tighter,” Gauthier says. “And while we do have shared priorities, each CSIP branch does have certain issues for them that take priority.”

“That job is a gut-busting job,” says Gauthier, You’re traveling all the time, you’re always in the limelight, you’re always working on very intricate and difficult matters with a lot of very interesting personalities — some of whom aren’t easy to get along with.”

02-09-2010 A whole lot worth fighting for and let the cats out of the bag; More

02-09-2010 Fighting corruption and promoting integrity in public procurement, More

A message was sent to CSIP chair today which CSIP likes to post it with the author permission.

Hi,

Since when is CAPIC qualified to head this sham.  Who are the members.  Who is really the head of this intervention;  the Minister, maybe.

Who asked CAPIC to be our official intermediary in this matter.  We can all send in our proposals as requested by the Minister's office, and wait for the specialists to make a decision.  We do not need their input.  This CAPIC bulletin will probably reach a great numbers of CSIC consultants, who instead of joining you will stay with CSIC.  Very dangerous.  This nonsense must stop before it goes any further.  Perhaps the Minister should be asked if he knows about this.  In reality, CAPIC is taking his place.  They want to become the deciders, instead of him...  Please explain why you were  not informed of this.  Maybe CAPIC does not want you to be part of the group, because you are too strong and know too much. They probably think you will win the race, and want to stop you in an indirect way.

Who will be paying for the specialist who will write the report for CAPIC.  Is CAPIC working quietly for the benefit of CSIC, who will have a hard time writing the proposal because of all their past mistakes, fraudulent documents and lack of integrity.  Is this the way to save CSIC skin.

Nancy, please think about using political contacts now before CAPIC goes any further. Is this bulletin legal... It does not respond to the guidelines given by the Gazette.  Nowhere in the Gazette does it specify that anyone under the sun can write the proposal.  In fact it specifies, that only qualified and experienced entities and companies can do so.

This is not good... it can be damaging.  Please block this initiative in your web, if you wish to do so.  This situation has to be looked at carefully.

If there is any comment similar to the above, please send it to executive@csip.ca

27-08-2010 CSIP Board Announcement

Re: CSIP Membership: CSIP is accepting as of Monday August 30th 2010 new members under the Grand father clause for The  Canadian Society of Immigration Practitioner Inc and its trade mark (FSCIP- The Federal Society of Citizenship and Immigration Practitioners).

We will close our membership preliminary informal registration intake as of September 30th 2010.  Registration Fees must be attached with the Initial Registration Application. Please send us email of your intention to register at membership@csip.ca with CSIPCBA.

We are accepting  new applicants who are in the process of obtaining their Immigration certificate from  local College or a University in Canada. Existing Members must renew their membership by October 30th 2010. All fees must be paid in full prior to the deadline if your membership received validation under the grandfather clause.

A grandfather clause is an exception that allows an old rule to continue to apply to some existing situations, when a new rule will apply to all future situations. It is often used as a verb: to grandfather means to grant such an exemption. Frequently, the exemption is limited; it may extend for a set period of time, or it may be lost once a change is made. For example, a "grandfathered power plant" might be exempt from new, more restrictive pollution laws, which would be applied if the plant were expanded. Often, such a provision is used as a compromise, to effect new rules without upsetting a well-established logistical or political situation. This extends the idea of a rule not being retroactively applied.

07/07/2010 CSIP board does not dwell on the past and the members go forward to their future success as professionals
